Shen Yun Atsauksme: Denton Thomas, trombone performer, composer
“Certainly from the non-Western side, certainly the integration of traditional instruments is really critical, you know exposing exposing audience either sound, either visually seeing the instruments, being played and of course with a language that is idiomatic to each instrument. It's really critical. And the way those are used is really exceptional. So having high caliber performers on those instruments in a way that they can perform both in a Western way and in a Chinese way, to me that is impressive. Because I can go and hear an erhu player who performs in a Chinese way, but hearing them play in a Western orchestra or they do both is quite unique and I think very effective in the setting. ”
